Vine & Fig Bistro & Wine Bar
The candlelit dining room at Vine & Fig, with green banquette seating and exposed brick

Bistro & Wine Bar · Mill Street, the Cape Winelands

Seasonal Cape cooking, done properly.

A small independent bistro on the village main road. We write the menu each week around what Winelands growers, cheesemakers and Cape day boats actually bring us — then cook it simply.

  • Independent & family-run
  • Menus written weekly
  • Open Tuesday to Sunday

Opening hours

Lunch 12–2.30pm · Dinner 5.30–10pm

Our story

A neighbourhood bistro, not a chain.

We opened in 2019 with sixteen covers, one chef and a blackboard. Not much has changed except the number of tables — the menu is still written by hand each week, and it still depends entirely on what turns up at the back door.

  • Written weekly. If it is not good this week, it is not on.
  • Made here. Bread, pasta, ice cream and pickles, all in-house.
  • Winelands first. Fourteen suppliers, all within an hour's drive.

Kind words

What our guests say.

Everything tasted like someone had actually thought about it. The pork belly was the best thing I have eaten this year, and they were lovely about my daughter's allergy.

We booked for a birthday and they remembered when we arrived. Small room, big flavours, and a wine list that does not punish you for ordering the second bottle.
Tom & PriyaSample review
Sunday lunch here has become a bit of a habit. Proper roast, proper gravy, and they never rush you out for the next sitting.
